Sore neck, shoulders & back...caused by a weak ankle!
Months of pain in my upper body looks likely to be down to the way I walk.
It is a long time since I have written anything on here, and it has also been a long time since I've ridden my bike in anger - since July I have been suffering from excruciating neck and upper back pain.
What follows is probably interesting to nobody but me and my osteopath, but just in case you are suffering from similar . . .
Photos of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina
10 years on I post some of the pics I took during two trips after the devastating storm
Ten years ago the devastating Hurricane Katrina tore through the U.S Gulf coast. New Orleans was particularly badly hit thanks to a woefully maintained flood defence system.
In the weeks that followed I visited the city with the US Army Corps of Engineers to report on the dewatering efforts for UK engineering magazine New Civil . . .
A poem for a wedding
I wrote this poem about love for my brother's wedding
This week my little brother Nick married the lovely Stacey at a civil ceremony in Canterbury.

She was glowing with praise over something our four year-old daughter had done during play. She was playing with some game or other with two little boys, and the boys were starting to fight over the game.
Lucy managed to . . .
Acting and trusting
Faith calls us both to make an effort and trust God with the outcome
With the weather taking a turn for the worst this week, I have returned to cycling in the garage on my turbo trainer.
It’s not often sportsmen say something profound, but I was struck by an observation Mark Cavendish makes in the 3LC Sprinting DVD that I work out to.
When asked how much practice his team puts into . . .
Soul food
Sharing a meal is about more than your stomach
How often do you sit down to share a meal?
If you’re anything like me lunchtime is munching sandwiches at your desk and dinner is reheating a meal an hour after everyone else has eaten.
Such a solitary diet is no good for the soul: Virginia Woolf wrote “one cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not . . .
